North Carolina players can use the subscription service to play three jackpot games; Powerball, Mega Millions and Carolina Cash 5. Alice Garland, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery stated, “We hope the new service will offer a way for those who currently don’t buy tickets at a traditional lottery retailer to try some of our games. Corbett’s Privatization Spending Under Fire

Corbett's Privatization Spending Under Fire

Pennsylvania Lottery

Last week Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett came under fire for spending over $3.5 million on lottery privatization consultants and legal fees. The privatization attempt is just one of a handful of cases that have cost Pennsylvania taxpayers millions. Other cases included defending a challenge to the states voter ID laws and an unsuccessful challenge to the NCAA’s sanctions against Penn State for its handling of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal. Records show that since 2012 the Corbett administration has spent $6.5 million on outside law firms. Corbett used the firms to push his agenda and for three controversial matters.

Administration officials defend the spending and say that since Corbwett took office in 2011 spending on outside law firms has actually decreased. Officials said that whenever possible cases are handled in house. Despite the hundreds of attorneys working in the Attorney General’s office and other state departments every administration spends tens of millions of dollars a year on outside law firms to give advice or defend employees and state agencies. Former Governor Rendell was criticized for his administration’s contracts with law firms. Rendell was harshly criticized for giving work to his former law firm, Ballard Spahr.

Merchant Cash Advance Rates

Merchant Cash Advance Rates

Merchant Cash Advance Rates Can Influence the Cost and Payment Plan For An Advance

The process of getting a merchant cash advance is different from what you’d get out of acquiring a traditional loan. While it’s true that merchant cash advance lenders are willing to give you a good deal, there are many unique points that will go into what you will spend. The merchant cash advance rates that you’ll have to pay off can really make a difference in whatever you might get out of such an offer.
The rates that you’ll see in particular relate to the APR that you will spend. This is the rate of interest that an advance can be increased by during its lifetime. It will be easier for you to keep from spending more on an advance if you have a smaller APR but there are still many points that will directly influence what you might get.
You must also think about what can influence the payment plan for your advance. This refers to how much time you’ll have to spend on paying off the advance. We at YesLender are hoping that you will get a clear idea of how these points work when developing your own merchant cash advance plan.

In New Jersey a judge refused to freeze the assets of lottery winner Pedro Quezada who won a $338 million Powerball jackpot last spring. Quezada’s former live in girlfriend, Ines Sanchez, is suing him for a share of the huge jackpot. The couple lived together for 10 years and owned a bodega in Passaic New Jersey. Sanchez is the mother of one of Quezada’s children. Sanchez moved out of the Clifton home they shared last month’ Sanchez has a domestic violence claim against Quezada. Quezada took a lump sum payout of $211 million and after taxes received a check for $152 million.

A large portion of the money is gone. $57 million was sent to the Dominican Republic, Quezada gave away $5 million and $300,000 was spent on the purchase of the Clifton home. According to attorney Michael De Marco who is representing Sanchez $20 million cannot be located. De Marco told state Superior Court Chancery Judge Margaret Mary McVeigh “I think we’re kidding ourselves to say we’ll ever see any of that money again.” De Marco argued the court should freeze Quezada’s assets. De Marco told the judge that irreparable harm could be done if Quezada’s assets were not frozen. DeMarco told the court “This was a man and a woman in a relationship akin to marriage for 10 years, who have a child in common and lived with other children from other relationships.”

UK Lottery Finds War Memorials

UK Lottery Finds War Memorials

UK Lottery

Next year will be the centenary of the beginning of World War One also known as the ‘Great War’ in the UK. While the United States was only in the war for a little more than a year Britain bore the full brunt of the hostilities for four long years. British forces included the ANZACS from New Zealand and Australia. In the UK the national lottery has established the Heritage Lottery Fund that preserves historic buildings and artifacts. The lottery’s newest project is titled ‘Lest We Forget’ and in Henly the project will sponsor three memorials to Henley’s “forgotten” servicemen.

The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded £8,200 to the project which needs community donations of £3,300 to complete the memorials. The news was announced by the lottery on the eve of Remembrance Sunday (similar to Veteran’s day in the US) and means the 6ft by 4ft glass plaques will be in place at the town hall, St Mary’s Church and Holy Trinity Church in time for the World War One centenary on August 4th 2014. Each plaque will contain the names of about 260 veterans with connections to Henley and will also include the names of 70 who are not listed on any of the town’s memorials.

In Detroit a General Motors retiree who played the lottery for over 40 years gunned down a Southfield liquor store employee because he was mad that he had left a winning ticket on the counter months earlier. Bruce Butler appeared in court charged with murder. Butler’s attorney, Joe Niskar, told the court in his opening statement that Butler would have known better than to try and cash a $1 million winning ticket at a liquor store. Niskar also said the police arrested the wrong man.
Prosecutors say they have evidence that can prove that Butler fatally shot Mike Khmoro in the parking lot of the liquor store on October 6th 2010. Butler is on trial for first degree murder in Oakland County Circuit Court. Police say that Butler intended to shoot Khmoro’s brother, who owned the store, but mistakenly shot Khmoro. Witnesses told police that months before the shooting Butler was mad because he had left a winning lottery ticket on the counter when he went to the store to get beer. The ticket was stolen.
